Introduced in 2004, the Sunseeker Manhattan 64 emerged during a period when Sunseeker International was rapidly expanding from its performance‑cruiser roots into the world of large, cosmopolitan motoryachts. Built in Poole, England, yet styled with unmistakably international flair, the Manhattan 64 embodied the brand’s philosophy: British engineering beneath sleek, Mediterranean‑inspired lines.

Designed by Don Shead, the yacht carried the hallmarks of Sunseeker’s performance heritage. At 19.92 meters in length with a 5.20‑meter beam and a shallow 1.42‑meter draft, she was engineered for agility and stability in varied sea conditions. Her construction blended strength and lightness — hand‑laid fiberglass, composite materials above the waterline, strong glass reinforcement below, balsa‑cored decks, and a foam girder structure that gave her both rigidity and durability. The result was a hull capable of sharp, confident handling at speed.

Her exterior styling reflected Sunseeker’s shift toward modern luxury: rakish lines, opposite sheer, and large elliptical windows that flooded the interior with natural light. Inside, designer Ken Freivokh and his team created a contemporary living environment, balancing comfort with understated elegance. The flybridge layout offered generous outdoor space, while below, three guest cabins provided refined accommodations for extended cruising.

Performance was central to the Manhattan 64’s identity. Powered by twin Caterpillar 3406E diesels, each producing 800 hp, she cruised comfortably at around 22 knots and could reach 30–33 knots at top speed — impressive for a yacht of her size. Her handling was equally notable: responsive, sharp‑turning, and capable of both stately passage‑making and spirited runs along the coast.

The Manhattan 64 fit seamlessly into Sunseeker’s broader legacy. Since the company’s founding in 1969 by Robert and John Braithwaite, Sunseeker had evolved from small sportsboats like the Sovereign 17 and Offshore 28 into a global luxury brand known for the Portofino 31, Tomahawk 37, and later the superyacht ranges. The Manhattan 64 represented the maturation of that journey — a production motoryacht that combined British craftsmanship, international styling, and the performance pedigree that defined Sunseeker’s rise.

Today, the Sunseeker Manhattan 64 is remembered as one of the standout models of the early 2000s: fast, stylish, and luxurious, appealing to owners who wanted both high‑speed capability and refined comfort. She remains a testament to Sunseeker’s ability to blend engineering excellence with modern design, securing her place in the brand’s motoryacht history.
