The Dakota DC-3 has earned the nickname “Workhorse of the Skies”. Thousands were produced from the end of WWII into the 1950s by the Douglas Aircraft works. Military, civilian, government, private, you name it. Utterly reliable. This limited edition is a hand-built reproduction of the Dakota DC-3 and celebrates the legacy of one of the most influential transport planes ever produced. The Dakota DC-3 took to the skies in 1936. After earlier versions of the Douglas passenger plane increased the height of the fuselage for taller passengers and even added in-flight movies. So, now it’s possible to find them flying from remote airports and landing on the tightest strips. Legendary and nostalgic.
Aluminum, riveted propellers, noisy, but also safe and familiar. This unique industrial miniature aircraft is made from flat and corrugated aluminum sheets that are etched and adorned with riveting. Thus, covering its lightweight wood frames. The twin engines, propellers and landing gear are intricately detailed to provide a scaled replica of this important aircraft. The Douglas DC 3 airplane model is completely hand-built & handcrafted. While, the wheels are made of metal and the tires are made of rubber. With it’s meticulous detail and astounding propellers, everybody can bring a touch of airborne adventure to their home through highly appealing decorative objects. For instance, the model aircraft can be on display hanging from the ceiling, sitting on it’s own landing gear or mounted on it’s own solid cast aluminum stand (included).
