Riva Junior (1967 – 1972)

The Riva Junior was conceived to replace the basic Florida model and, as its name suggests, was designed to be the baby of the Riva range, and accessible to the young aspiring Riva enthusiast.  It is a multi-purpose small motorboat that could used be as a ship’s tender or equally for water-skiing.

Its distinctive features include the open design of the cockpit and sundeck and the white painted sides for ease of maintenance – a clue to its principal target market, the USA, where owners tended to take care of boats themselves.

In 1972, by which time 626 had been built, it was replaced by the Rudy, exactly the same design except that it was made of fibreglass.  At this time fibreglass was rapidly replacing wooden built craft due to it’s ease of maintenance, lightness – giving better power to weight ratios, and the ability to mould the fiber into what were considered more contemporary shapes.

We offer this famous Riva Junior model  as a FULLY ASSEMBLED model ready to be proudly display as a piece of history. Master craftsmen hand-built these Riva Junior model highly detailed  from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. We are using plank-on-frame construction method to build these model, similar to the building of actual boats.

Each Riva Junior model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. This is truly beautiful model of the Riva Junior with nature wood color and mahogany hull. You can see there are multiple tones of wood decking on the bow. You also can find exquisite details from the leather works to all the realistic gauges. All fittings such as windshield frame, wiper, navigation lights, mirror, flag pole are made of brass then chrome plated. The cockpit has two hand stitched individual leather seats as well as a rear passenger seat. The swimming platform also comes with stainless steel hand rails. The Riva Junior model rests on a wooden stand for easy display.
